An absconding rowdy-sheeter in Mangaluru, Karnataka, who had been evading the police by wearing a burqa to avoid court appearances, has been apprehended by the Ullal Police. The accused, identified as Imran aka Surmo Imran, is facing multiple criminal charges and had been on the run despite court warrants issued against him. Imran, a notorious figure with 23 criminal cases in Mangaluru and Udupi, was tracked down and arrested by the police following a special operation.
Imran, son of late Hasanabba and a resident of Darga Road in Ullal’s Melangadi, had resorted to disguising himself in a burqa to escape police surveillance. Despite his attempts to conceal his identity, the police managed to capture him based on credible intelligence. Imran’s involvement in various criminal cases across Mangaluru city has led to his arrest, and he is set to face legal proceedings in the jurisdictional court. The police are actively investigating the pending cases against him.
In a separate incident, the Channapatna town police arrested a rowdy-sheeter for allegedly drugging, assaulting, and filming a nude video of Channapatna Tahsildar B.N. Girish. The accused attempted to extort Rs 10 lakh from the Tahsildar after the incident at his official residence in Kuvempu Nagar. Additionally, another rowdy-sheeter, Stanley, was arrested in Kolar Gold Fields for violating externment orders and intimidating locals directly from a wedding venue.
Police efforts in Karnataka have also led to the arrest of Syed Abrar, a notorious rowdy-sheeter wanted in numerous criminal cases. Despite facing 67 criminal charges and over 37 non-bailable warrants, Abrar had managed to evade arrest by frequently changing hideouts. The accused, involved in serious offenses like murder, attempted murder, robbery, and theft, was finally apprehended by the Banaswadi Police after a sustained operation.
