Andhra Pradesh’s Minister for Information Technology and Electronics, Nara Lokesh, praised Royal Enfield’s decision to invest in a new manufacturing plant in the state. The iconic motorcycle manufacturer’s investment signifies confidence in Andhra Pradesh’s business environment and infrastructure. This move marks Royal Enfield’s first major expansion outside Tamil Nadu since its establishment in 1901.
The company plans to invest approximately Rs 2,200 crore in two phases to set up a modern manufacturing facility in Satyavedu, near the Andhra Pradesh–Tamil Nadu border. This project is expected to significantly enhance Andhra Pradesh’s industrial and manufacturing capabilities. The new facility is projected to increase Royal Enfield’s manufacturing capacity by nearly 9 lakh units and strengthen India’s position as a global premium motorcycle manufacturing hub.
The State Investment Promotion Board in Andhra Pradesh, chaired by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, approved this project among 25 others with a total investment exceeding Rs 2 lakh crore. The government has allocated 267 acres of land for the project, which is anticipated to create around 5,000 direct and indirect job opportunities. Royal Enfield’s investment will also include a dedicated vendor park in the first phase to attract the company’s supplier ecosystem and foster the growth of an automotive manufacturing cluster in the state.
Minister Lokesh expressed pride in welcoming Royal Enfield to Andhra Pradesh, emphasizing the company’s heritage and quality. He highlighted the broader impact of the project, stating that it would bolster the state’s vision of establishing a globally competitive automobile and advanced manufacturing hub. This initiative is expected to further boost industrial development in southern Andhra Pradesh and solidify the state’s reputation as an attractive destination for large-scale manufacturing investments across various sectors.
