Cash amounting to Rs 1.44 crore was discovered at a private English-medium school in Kanchrapara, North 24 Parganas district. The recovery operation took place overnight, leading to the recovery of the substantial sum along with a packet of condoms found in the school’s ‘sick room’, as reported by the police.
Two individuals have been apprehended in connection with this incident. MLA Sudipta Das initiated a ‘data bank’ of educational institutions in his Assembly area, leading to the discovery at the school after receiving information from his representatives.
During the search, a counting machine was utilized to tally the recovered cash, with additional machines brought in due to the large sum. The recovered money is suspected to be linked to Trinamool Congress leaders, with allegations of irregularities and suspicions of black money involvement.
The school principal claimed that the cash represented admission fees and was meant for banking, while denying knowledge of how condoms ended up in the school’s ‘sick room’. Investigations are ongoing to determine the source of the cash and the circumstances surrounding its presence at the school.
