The Russian Defence Ministry announced that units from its Southern Group of Forces have successfully taken over the settlement of Sviato-Pokrovske in the Donetsk region. This action was part of a decisive operation that led to the liberation of the said settlement. Additionally, in the past 24 hours, Russian air defense systems intercepted and destroyed six aerial bombs, a US-made HIMARS rocket, and 472 fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles in the special military operation zone.
Two oil storage tanks in the southern Russian port of Temryuk caught fire following a drone attack, as confirmed by authorities in the Krasnodar region. Fortunately, there were no casualties reported in this incident. The firefighting efforts are currently underway, with 70 personnel and 18 pieces of equipment engaged in controlling the fire. Another drone strike targeted the village of Nikolaevka in the same region, causing damage to various industrial structures and farm equipment.
Recent drone attacks have also affected the port of Taman in the Volna settlement, where two piers and two tankers were damaged. Furthermore, falling wreckage from intercepted drones caused harm to two storage tanks in the area. Both Temryuk and Taman are crucial seaports on the Black Sea that play a significant role in Russia’s oil and petroleum exports. Tragically, earlier this week, Russian Lieutenant General Fanil Sarvarov lost his life in a car explosion in Moscow. The explosion, caused by an explosive device planted under his car on Yasenevaya Street, resulted in Sarvarov’s death from injuries sustained.
An investigation into the incident has been initiated by Russian security agencies, exploring various potential motives, including suspected involvement by Ukrainian special services.
