Denis Alipov, Russia’s Ambassador to India, expressed Russia’s firm rejection of US “pressure” in global politics, especially regarding India’s oil market. He highlighted that New Delhi maintains an independent foreign policy. Alipov criticized US attempts to hinder Russia’s presence in the Indian market, stating that such actions are not conducive to healthy international relations.

Alipov addressed US claims of India potentially reducing Russian oil imports due to tariff-related tensions. He refrained from commenting on US-India trade specifics but reiterated Russia’s stance against international political pressure. The Ambassador emphasized that the US’s efforts to impede Russia’s activities in the Indian market are inappropriate and not in line with fair business practices.

Alipov underscored the strengthening ties between Moscow and New Delhi, particularly in the energy sector. He noted a significant increase in India’s imports of Russian oil in recent times. The Ambassador highlighted the ongoing bilateral trade and economic relations between the two countries, emphasizing mutual benefits and cooperation in various sectors, including oil trade.

Regarding broader geopolitical issues, Alipov mentioned the volatility in energy markets due to US oil disruption diplomacy. Despite these challenges, he expressed optimism about the growing bilateral trade between Russia and India, especially in the oil sector. Alipov affirmed the commitment of both countries to further enhancing their economic cooperation for mutual prosperity.

Alipov welcomed the possibility of Prime Minister Narendra Modi visiting Russia, stating that Moscow would warmly receive him. He mentioned the annual exchange of summits between the two nations and expressed eagerness for continued high-level engagements to strengthen the Russia-India relationship.
