Batting legend Sachin Tendulkar extended his congratulations to former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly for his induction into the ICC Hall of Fame on his 54th birthday. Tendulkar expressed joy at seeing Ganguly join the prestigious list, highlighting their enduring friendship since the age of 14.
In response, an emotional Ganguly thanked Tendulkar for the heartfelt message, considering it the pinnacle of his cricketing career to be honored alongside the iconic batsman. Ganguly, currently serving as the president of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB), will be the 12th Indian and 10th Indian male cricketer to receive this esteemed recognition.
Known for his prowess in ODIs, Ganguly amassed 11,363 runs in 311 matches, including 22 centuries, and also took 132 wickets. In Test cricket, he scored 7,212 runs in 113 games. Nicknamed the ‘God of the Off-side,’ Ganguly assumed India’s captaincy during a challenging period in 2000, leading the team to several memorable victories and milestones under his aggressive leadership.
Post-retirement, Ganguly served as the BCCI president during the Covid-19 pandemic and currently holds key roles in various cricket franchises. The ICC is set to announce the new Hall of Fame inductees on July 11, with Ganguly joining a distinguished list of Indian cricketing legends.
