Sukhbir Badal, the President of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), has kickstarted preparations for the 2027 assembly elections by addressing key issues. He emphasized the party’s commitment to rectifying historical injustices, such as the diversion of Punjab’s water to Rajasthan through the Rajasthan canal. Badal also unveiled election promises, including providing free tubewell connections to all farmers who were previously excluded.
At a party conference during the Maghi Mela, attended by a large gathering, Badal honored the 40 Muktas who sacrificed their lives for the Panth. He urged all leaders concerned about Punjab’s welfare to rejoin the party, emphasizing the importance of unity for the state’s future.
Badal highlighted the record-breaking attendance at the conference, signaling a shift in Punjab’s political landscape. He expressed the public’s desire to end the Aam Aadmi Party’s rule and support a regional party like SAD for the benefit of future generations.
Promising a transformative agenda if elected, Badal outlined plans for pro-farmer, pro-poor, and pro-youth initiatives, aiming to eradicate gangsterism. He pledged free tubewell connections, installation of underground pipes for better water distribution, addressing waterlogging issues, and securing land rights for farmers along riverbeds.
