Sahith Theegala concluded the Cadillac Championship with a remarkable final round, showcasing a flawless 8-under 64 to match his season’s best score. Despite initial struggles in the middle rounds with scores of 76 and 74, Theegala’s strong finish propelled him 33 spots up the leaderboard to tie for 30th place. This performance not only boosted his position but also reinstated confidence in his journey back to the top tier of world rankings.
Cameron Young, on the other hand, dominated the tournament from start to finish, securing a convincing victory with a commanding performance. Starting on the back nine, Theegala gained momentum early on with birdies and continued his impressive form on the front nine, adding six more birdies to his scorecard. His bogey-free round highlighted his potential and control on the course.
In a notable move, Sudarshan Yellamaraju joined Theegala at tied-30th after a solid round of 68, featuring four birdies. Meanwhile, Akshay Bhatia had a mixed day, recording an eagle and four birdies but also facing setbacks with double bogeys and other dropped shots, finishing tied-23rd.
At the top, Cameron Young’s consistent and composed performance led him to a comfortable six-shot victory, finishing 19-under for the week. Scottie Scheffler secured the second position, marking his third consecutive runner-up finish. The tournament saw challenging conditions due to early morning rain, softening the course and affecting play.
Ben Griffin claimed third place, with Si Woo Kim, Sepp Straka, and Adam Scott sharing fourth. Scott’s strong performance over the weekend potentially secured his spot in the upcoming U.S. Open, aiming for his 100th consecutive major championship appearance.
