Sahith Theegala began his RBC Heritage campaign with a 2-under 69, placing him tied for 27th in the USD 20 million event. Theegala showcased an impressive start with three birdies in his first four holes and four in the opening seven.

Fellow Indian-origin players Akshay Bhatia and Sudarshan Yellamaraju had slower beginnings. Bhatia recorded a 2-over 73, positioning him tied for 65th, while Yellamaraju posted a 3-over 74, placing him tied for 70th.

Theegala’s strong start included back-to-back birdies on the first two holes, although he dropped a shot on the third. He quickly recovered with another birdie on the fourth and continued to make gains, reaching 4-under at the turn.

The back nine presented challenges for Theegala, with bogeys on the 10th, 11th, and 18th holes offsetting a lone birdie on the 15th, resulting in a 2-under finish for the day. Bhatia’s round featured three bogeys and a single birdie, while Yellamaraju faced a tough start with a triple bogey on his opening hole.
