Roh Tae-moon, CEO of Samsung Electronics, highlighted the company’s focus on robotics for manufacturing automation. During a press conference at CES 2026 in Las Vegas, Roh stated that they are prioritizing their robot business to automate manufacturing hubs. Samsung plans to expand into business-to-business and business-to-consumer sectors based on the gained capabilities and experience.
Samsung Electronics acquired Rainbow Robotics, a South Korean startup, last year to advance its robotics technologies, including humanoid robots. While the company previously introduced Ballie, a smart home robot, at CES 2024, Roh mentioned a current focus on applications with clear operational impact before moving towards humanoid robots for the sector.
Roh also revealed that robotics will be a core area for future mergers and acquisitions for Samsung Electronics. The company’s M&A strategy will concentrate on HVAC, automotive parts, medical technology, and robotics sectors to drive technological innovation benefiting consumers and society. Samsung Electronics recently announced significant M&A deals, including acquiring FlaktGroup Holding GmbH and a division of ZF Friedrichshafen AG.
To drive AI-led innovation, Samsung Electronics plans to integrate AI across its entire product range. AI applications will extend to Galaxy smartphones, premium TVs, and Wi-Fi-enabled home appliances, with a target to ship 400 million units of these products in the upcoming year.
