A delegation from the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM-Punjab) met with Governor and Administrator of Chandigarh, Gulab Chand Kataria, at Lok Bhavan to present a memorandum addressing various concerns of the farming community. The delegation emphasized key issues such as ensuring a legal guarantee for the Minimum Support Price (MSP), providing debt relief for farmers and agricultural laborers, water resource conservation, crop insurance, and resolving land acquisition disputes.

Governor Gulab Chand Kataria pledged to personally address the raised issues with both the Punjab and Indian governments, committing to work towards finding solutions. He acknowledged the critical nature of matters related to Punjab’s agriculture, water resources, and farmers’ livelihoods, emphasizing the need for careful consideration. The Governor encouraged the Samyukta Kisan Morcha to submit a detailed proposal outlining demands and sustainable solutions for effective presentation to the concerned authorities.

Expressing gratitude, the Samyukta Kisan Morcha representatives thanked Governor Gulab Chand Kataria for attentively listening to their concerns and ensuring that the issues would be taken up with the respective governments for prompt resolution.
