The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) announced Sanjeev Jain as the new Ambassador of India to South Korea. Jain, currently serving as the Ambassador of India to the Republic of Cabo Verde, will assume his new role in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea. With extensive experience in various diplomatic roles, Jain has previously served in Indian missions in Dubai, Paris, Kandy, Berlin, Tokyo, and Osaka.
Sanjeev Jain, the first Indian Ambassador to Cabo Verde, brings a wealth of experience in parliament affairs, consular affairs, science and technology cooperation, and trade and commerce. He has been actively involved in organizing multilateral conferences, including the BRICS Summit in Goa. Jain will succeed Gourangalal Das as the Indian Ambassador to South Korea, continuing the strong diplomatic ties between India and South Korea.
India and South Korea share a longstanding relationship, having established diplomatic relations in 1973. The two countries upgraded their partnership to a “Special Strategic Partnership” in 2015 during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Seoul. President of South Korea, Lee Jae Myung, recently visited India, further strengthening the bilateral ties between the two nations.
