Sara Errani and Andrea Vavassori successfully defended their French Open mixed doubles title by defeating Gabriela Dabrowski and Evan King in a challenging final. The Italian duo, top seeds, came from a set down to secure a 4-6, 6-3, 10-4 victory in just over an hour.
Despite a strong start by their opponents in windy conditions, Errani and Vavassori turned the match around after the first set. They displayed more aggression and consistency in the second set, leading to a championship tiebreak where they dominated from the start, clinching the win on their first championship point.
Errani, expressing her joy, stated, “What can I say. I’m still living this never-ending dream.” This victory marks Errani’s 10th Grand Slam title in women’s and mixed doubles, while Vavassori secured his fourth major mixed doubles crown.
During the trophy ceremony, Vavassori praised Errani, calling her his best friend and acknowledging the impact of their successful partnership. The defeat for King, who finished as runner-up with a different partner last year, highlighted Errani and Vavassori’s dominance in the mixed doubles category at Roland Garros.
