The discussions on seat-sharing between the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and the Congress for the upcoming 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections are moving ahead smoothly. Girish Chodankar, Tamil Nadu Congress in-charge, clarified that there are no official talks with other parties, dismissing rumors about discussions with the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK). Chodankar mentioned that a dedicated committee has been formed to engage in talks with the DMK leadership, emphasizing the strong alliance between the Congress and DMK.
Various committees are being established by the Congress to strengthen its organizational structure in preparation for the elections. Chodankar highlighted that over 5,000 volunteers have shown interest in contributing to the party’s campaign efforts, reflecting a high level of enthusiasm within the party. He also addressed internal issues raised by Congress MP Jyothimani, stating that a committee has been set up to investigate the allegations and emphasizing the importance of maintaining party discipline and unity during the election period.
Chodankar reiterated the Congress’ commitment to the DMK-led alliance, expressing confidence in contesting the 2026 Assembly elections as part of a united and trustworthy coalition. He stressed the need for party executives to refrain from discussing internal matters on public platforms and underlined the significance of discipline and unity as the elections draw closer.
