The National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM), supported by SEBI, has partnered with the Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA) to boost training in governance, ESG, and capital markets. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed in Mumbai to jointly develop and conduct capacity building programs, certification courses, and training initiatives for SEBI officers and officials from various regulatory and financial sector bodies. SEBI Chairman Tuhin Kanta Pandey emphasized the need for a performance-oriented corporate governance framework to facilitate MSME access to capital markets and enhance sustainability disclosures.
The collaboration, led by IICA Director General and CEO Gyaneshwar Kumar Singh, focuses on strategic initiatives in corporate governance, ESG, and responsible business conduct aligned with national development goals. The agreement, signed by NISM Registrar Yogita Jadhav and Dr. Garima Dadhich from IICA, establishes a long-term cooperation framework for knowledge exchange, capacity building, research, and policy support in areas like securities markets, sustainability, and ESG reporting.
This partnership will also address critical areas such as insolvency, investor education, responsible investing, and sustainable finance, aiming to enhance board governance, market integrity, MSME financing, and emerging regulatory frameworks. Both institutions will collaborate on research studies, curriculum development, sharing best practices, faculty exchange programs, and organizing conferences and seminars. This collaboration signifies a significant stride towards fostering a more inclusive, well-governed, and knowledge-based ecosystem for India’s securities markets and corporate sector.
