The district administration in South Waziristan Upper and South Waziristan Lower districts of Pakistan has enforced Section 144 to address security concerns and aid logistics movement. This decision aims to ensure public safety, uphold law and order, and support security personnel’s operational activities, as per local reports.
In South Waziristan Upper, Section 144 is in effect in Sarvekai and Sararogha tehsils from 6 am to 6 pm local time. During this period, road movement is restricted, and all markets and commercial centers will remain closed, as reported by Dawn, a leading daily in Pakistan.
South Waziristan Lower has also implemented Section 144 in parts of Wana, restricting non-essential movement from 6 am to 6 pm. This curfew is a response to security threats and is aimed at facilitating security forces’ movements, according to officials. Restricted routes include Taiarza Gate, Karb Kot, Tanai, Wana, and Azizabad Chowk up to Dargai Bridge.
Authorities emphasize that during Section 144 enforcement, only approved movements will be permitted, urging citizens to cooperate with security forces. The region has experienced heightened security challenges and increased terrorist activities in recent months, raising concerns across the province.
