In response to the recent killing of his personal assistant, officials at the state secretariat Nabanna in West Bengal are taking extra precautions to ensure the safety of Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari. Both state police and central forces will now be involved in providing security for the Chief Minister. Adhikari had started receiving security from central forces since he switched from the Trinamool Congress to the BJP in December 2020.
Following the murder of his personal assistant on May 6, Suvendu Adhikari’s security detail is being further reinforced. Despite being provided with Z-category security in the past, the Chief Minister prefers not to have excessive security measures around him. The state administration, however, is adamant about not compromising on his safety and will be deploying additional police personnel for his protection.
Even after assuming office as the Chief Minister, Adhikari’s security will continue to be managed by central forces as per the Union Home Ministry’s decision. The state police will also play a role in enhancing his security measures. Officials are ensuring that the security arrangements do not hinder the Chief Minister’s official duties or public engagements, aiming to strike a balance between safety and convenience.
