Security forces in Manipur have apprehended six militants from banned insurgent groups, Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) and United National Liberation Front (UNLF), in Imphal East district. These militants were reportedly involved in extorting money from various individuals. Additionally, four individuals were arrested in a separate operation in the same district, with 239 kg of contraband ganja confiscated from them.
In a different search operation in Kangpokpi district along the India-Myanmar border, security forces discovered a cache of arms and ammunition. The recovered weapons included a 5.56 mm INSAS rifle, 24 locally made Single Barrel Breech Loading (SBBL) guns, and a substantial amount of ammunition. Both central and state security personnel are actively conducting operations to combat insurgent activities and maintain law and order in Manipur.
To prevent militant activities and ensure public safety, security forces are conducting regular search operations and area domination exercises in vulnerable areas. They have established 114 nakas and checkpoints across valley and hill districts to monitor and intercept suspicious activities. Moreover, security measures are in place along the Imphal-Jiribam National Highway (NH-37) to safeguard the movement of vehicles and essential goods.
The Manipur Police have issued a cautionary message to the public, advising against believing rumors and fake videos circulating on social media platforms. Citizens are urged to verify information through official channels and cooperate with authorities to uphold peace and public order in the state.
