Security forces in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur District have significantly disrupted the logistical and financial support of the Naxalite movement through a series of successful joint operations. Teams comprising various law enforcement agencies uncovered hidden Maoist storage sites containing large amounts of cash, weapons, and explosives. In the latest operation, they seized Rs 65.52 lakh in cash and a cache of 32 weapons, including light machine guns and rifles.

This accomplishment is part of a broader campaign that has led to the recovery of assets worth over Rs 20 crore since the start of 2024, including a substantial amount of gold valued at nearly Rs 13 crore. Superintendent of Police Jitendra Kumar Yadav emphasized that these efforts aim to make Bijapur a Naxal-free zone, driven by the strategic goals of the Indian and Chhattisgarh governments. The successful discovery of these hidden stockpiles was made possible by an enhanced intelligence network and the cooperation of local residents who provided vital information on Maoist hideouts in remote areas.

In addition to seizing weapons, security teams also disposed of 140 kilograms of materials used in making improvised explosive devices, further hampering the insurgents’ capabilities. This disruption has significantly impeded the Naxalites’ weapon procurement and supply chain, representing a crucial advancement in efforts to restore peace to the region. The data from 2025 to 2026 underscores the effectiveness of these operations, with 461 weapons recovered in the district during this period alone.

Since the beginning of 2024, security forces have eliminated 234 Maoists and assisted in the rehabilitation of over 1,000 individuals, indicating a shift towards stability and progress. By dismantling the Naxalites’ financial and equipment reserves, the joint forces have not only weakened their operational strength but also bolstered security in remote areas. Local authorities continue to encourage the public to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activities as the district moves closer to eradicating the insurgency through a combination of strategic precision and community support.
