Security forces in Manipur have apprehended five suspected drug peddlers, including a key narcotics supplier and a woman, in separate anti-drug operations. The arrests were made during raids conducted by a joint team of Manipur Police and the Narcotics Control Bureau. The operations resulted in the confiscation of significant amounts of opium and brown sugar of Myanmar origin.
Nengjatuan, also known as Tuanpi, was arrested from a hotel in Churachandpur district, believed to be a major drug supplier wanted in multiple cases under the NDPS Act. In a separate operation in Imphal East district, three individuals were apprehended, and 3.66 kg of suspected opium, valued at Rs 22 lakh, was seized. The arrested individuals were identified as Anil Das, Roshan Basnet, and Goma Karki, residents of different districts in Manipur.
Another operation led to the arrest of Tinnei Thadou in Chandel district, with the recovery of around 1.6 kg of suspected brown sugar, valued at over Rs 1.5 crore. The woman was taken into custody from Songja Khopi village in Churachandpur district. Security forces have intensified efforts against militants, conducting search operations and area domination exercises in various parts of Manipur.
