The security forces in Manipur conducted successful operations leading to significant discoveries. In one operation, a joint team recovered a substantial cache of arms, explosives, and war-like stores from a forest area in Churachandpur district. Another operation resulted in the arrest of a militant from the banned PREPAK outfit, along with the recovery of hand grenades. Additionally, around 50 kg of suspected opium, valued at over Rs 3 crore, was found in an abandoned car near Hengbung Baptist Church.
Further investigations are ongoing, with initial findings suggesting the opium consignment originated from Myanmar. This seizure is part of a broader crackdown on drug trafficking networks linked to Myanmar. Security forces are actively conducting search operations and area domination exercises to maintain peace and curb illegal activities in Manipur.
To ensure security, numerous checkpoints have been established across Manipur, and escorts are provided to vehicles, especially those carrying essential goods. Strict measures are in place along vulnerable stretches to safeguard vehicle movement. The Manipur Police have also cautioned the public against believing and spreading unverified information, particularly on social media platforms.
