Security forces in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district achieved a major breakthrough by eliminating a key Maoist leader during a joint operation. The operation, conducted in the forested and hilly terrain under Tarrem police station limits, led to the killing of South Bastar Division Divisional Committee Member Udham Singh.
Acting on specific intelligence, teams from the District Reserve Guard (DRG) Bijapur and CoBRA launched a search operation which resulted in a prolonged exchange of fire between security personnel and the Maoists in the challenging forest landscape. Udham Singh, who carried a reward of Rs 8 lakh, was identified as the in-charge of Platoon No 30 in the South Bastar Division.
Authorities revealed that Udham Singh, a resident of Kottaguda village, had a history of criminal cases and was linked to several major incidents in the region. The successful operation was highlighted as a significant step in dismantling Maoist networks in the Bastar region.
