Security forces in Narayanpur, Chhattisgarh, discovered over Rs 1 crore in cash and a significant cache of advanced weapons during a joint operation to combat Naxal activities. The operation, conducted as part of the “Mad Bachao Abhiyan” (Save Maad Campaign), signifies a crucial breakthrough in the fight against Naxalism in the region. Led by Superintendent of Police Robinson Guriya, the operation involved various teams like the District Reserve Guard, Special Task Force, ITBP, and BSF operating in remote and sensitive areas.
The main focus of the operation was to locate and dismantle hidden Naxal storage facilities for arms and funds. Notably, the security forces seized a total of Rs 1,10,64,000 in cash, which is believed to be a key component of the insurgents’ financial network. Additionally, the recovery included a wide array of 28 different types of Naxal-related materials, such as AK-47 rifles, SLR rifles, INSAS and .303 weaponry, live cartridges, magazines, and BGL launchers with shells.
The confiscation of electronic detonators, cordex wire bundles, and potassium nitrate, along with high-grade communication devices like “Motorola sets” and “Baofeng walkie-talkies,” has significantly disrupted the Naxals’ ability to produce improvised explosive devices and coordinate effectively. The recovery of 270 weapons in the 2025-26 period alone highlights the success of the current security approach against Maoism in the area.
As search and area control operations persist, the police have urged the public to stay alert and report any suspicious items concealed in the forests. This operation not only hampers the logistical and arms supply chain of the Naxals but also strengthens the state’s efforts to establish enduring peace and security in the region.
