India’s Selva Prabhu excelled in the 2026 athletics season by clinching the men’s triple jump title at the Oregon Team Invitational 2026. At the renowned Hayward Field, the 21-year-old secured victory with a jump of 16.61m, displaying consistent performance with jumps of 16.57m and 16.37m.
Apalos Edwards took second place with a jump of 16.53m, while Jhavor Bennett finished third after recording 16.11m. Selva Prabhu, who previously won a silver medal at the World Athletics U20 Championships 2022, has been on an upward trajectory this season. His personal best of 17.05m, achieved at the NCAA Indoor Championships 2026, stands as the Indian indoor national record.
Selva Prabhu’s win in Oregon marks his third title this season, following his victory at the Thane Baker athletics meet in Manhattan, Kansas, where he leaped 16.49m. Despite meeting the Asian Games 2026 qualifying standard of 16.28m set by the Athletics Federation of India, selection for the Indian squad requires participation in a minimum of three domestic competitions, including state-level meets.
Recently, Selva Prabhu triumphed at the Stanford Invitational with a jump of 15.76m and has consistently performed well, securing second place in three events this season. The Oregon Team Invitational is categorized as a Category E meet on the World Athletics calendar.
