The Directorate General of Taxpayer Services and the Confederation of Indian Industry Gujarat jointly organized a seminar in Ahmedabad to raise awareness about the Authorised Economic Operators (AEO) program and the Manufacture and Other Operations in Warehouse Regulations (MOOWR). The event gathered customs officials, industry representatives, and stakeholders to discuss the operational aspects of these initiatives and their role in enhancing India’s trade ecosystem. Sumit Kumar from the DGTS Ahmedabad Zonal Unit highlighted the organization’s taxpayer-centric approach and commitment to aiding trade during the seminar.
Manish Kulhary, the Ahmedabad Commissioner of Customs, presented on the AEO program and MOOWR regulations, outlining their policy framework, eligibility criteria, and operational benefits. These initiatives aim to bolster trade facilitation and enhance the competitiveness of domestic industries. The seminar emphasized how AEO and MOOWR contribute to secure supply chains, reduce costs, and improve the global competitiveness of Indian businesses.
The seminar also featured discussions led by senior customs officers and industry experts on AEO certification, compliance requirements, and the operational advantages under the MOOWR framework. Participants received guidance on leveraging these schemes to streamline supply chains and enhance operational efficiency. An interactive session addressed queries related to operational and compliance issues, with industry concerns being addressed and practical insights shared.
The Directorate General of Taxpayer Services expressed gratitude to the speakers, customs officials, CII representatives, sponsors, and participants for their valuable contributions to the event. The broader role of the organization, established in 2015 to enhance taxpayer facilitation, was also highlighted during the seminar. The Ahmedabad Zonal Unit, operational across multiple states and union territories, conducted numerous outreach programs engaging with a significant number of taxpayers over the past year. The organization’s focus remains on taxpayer education, grievance redressal, stakeholder engagement, and public outreach to enhance compliance and facilitate trade.
