Senior BJP leader R. Ashoka, also the Leader of the Opposition in the Karnataka Assembly, mentioned that people are responding positively to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal for reducing the use of petroleum products and unnecessary gold purchases. Ashoka shared that he and his family are cutting down petrol and diesel usage in their vehicles by 30-50%, with escort vehicles being limited to essential situations. He highlighted the global challenges due to ongoing conflicts and emphasized the public’s favorable reception of the Prime Minister’s plea.
Ashoka informed that he has advised his family members to decrease cooking oil consumption at home, aligning with the PM’s directives. Additionally, Union ministers and officials have started embracing public transport systems like the Metro in response to Modi’s call. BJP MLC N. Ravikumar, the Chief Whip of the Opposition in the Karnataka Legislative Council, urged Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar to support PM Modi’s proposals for the nation’s benefit.
Ravikumar criticized Congress leader B.K. Hariprasad for his comments, labeling them as “immature” and “irresponsible.” He highlighted positive responses from companies to the PM’s appeal, including considering work-from-home arrangements for three days weekly. Ravikumar defended the PM’s initiatives to reduce petroleum product usage, limit gold purchases, and promote public transport, emphasizing their importance in safeguarding the economy, jobs, and foreign exchange reserves. He urged people to back these efforts for the country’s well-being.
