Senior BJP leader R. Ashoka criticized the Congress government during its three-year anniversary celebrations in Tumakuru. He accused the administration of corruption, financial mismanagement, and administrative failure. Ashoka targeted Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, questioning the government’s achievements and highlighting alleged issues like the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) case.
Ashoka claimed that properties worth nearly Rs 100 crore, linked to associates close to the Chief Minister, were attached by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). He also alleged that the government spent Rs 3.16 crore from the state exchequer on legal fees to prevent a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the matter. Notably, CM Siddaramaiah is named as the accused number one in the MUDA scam.
The BJP leader criticized the Congress government for the state’s financial distress, citing a debt burden exceeding Rs 8 lakh crore. He accused the government of proposing fresh borrowings of Rs 1.50 lakh crore in the 2025-26 budget, burdening every Kannadiga with debt exceeding Rs 1 lakh. Ashoka also accused the government of pushing electricity supply companies into a debt crisis, with Electricity Supply Companies (ESCOMs) in Karnataka burdened with debts of Rs 42,750 crore.
