Senior BJP leader R. Ashoka criticized the Karnataka government for prioritizing the development of neighboring districts over public safety in Bengaluru. He expressed concern that the government’s focus on real estate ventures was neglecting the law and order situation in the state capital. Ashoka highlighted that this approach had led to Bengaluru being dubbed a “crime city.”
Ashoka pointed out alarming crime statistics, revealing that Bengaluru ranked second in the country for murder cases among metropolitan cities, with 176 cases reported in 2024. He also raised issues regarding crimes against women, citing 4,748 cases of atrocities, including 16 gang rapes, in the city. The BJP leader questioned whether these developments aligned with the image of ‘Brand Bengaluru.’
The leader further criticized the government, labeling Bengaluru as the “cyber crime capital” due to the high number of cyber crime cases reported. He highlighted the seizure of narcotic substances worth Rs 98.69 crore, emphasizing the continued operation of the drug mafia in the city. Ashoka also expressed concerns over the safety of senior citizens, noting a significant number of cases targeting the elderly.
Questioning the government’s priorities, Ashoka criticized the focus on real estate gains in Tumakuru and Ramanagara districts while neglecting public safety in Bengaluru. He called for the removal of the Congress government, stating that it had lost the moral authority to govern and safeguard Bengaluru’s reputation and future.
