Senior BJP leader Tamilisai Soundararajan commended the Narendra Modi-led Union government for providing significant financial support to Tamil Nadu. She highlighted the allocation of Rs 7,500 crore for the rural employment scheme and funding for crucial river restoration projects in the state. The funds are designated for projects like cleaning and reviving rivers such as the Cooum and restoring the Buckingham Canal, aimed at preventing flooding and enhancing water management in Chennai and nearby areas.
Tamilisai expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the allocations, emphasizing the government’s commitment to aiding Tamil Nadu through various development and welfare initiatives. She refuted claims that the Centre was neglecting the state, citing the recent outreach program by the Prime Minister that showcased the government’s achievements and welfare measures.
In the healthcare sector, Tamilisai welcomed a decision by the Tamil Nadu government to prohibit doctors in government hospitals from practicing privately during official working hours. She believed this move would enhance the availability of doctors in public healthcare facilities, ultimately strengthening healthcare services for the general public. Tamilisai also stressed the importance of improving basic infrastructure in hospitals, including essential amenities like water supply.
Addressing governance issues, Tamilisai emphasized the significance of maintaining law and order as a top priority for the state government. She raised concerns about rising ganja-related offenses, drug abuse, and crimes against women, advocating for strict action against offenders. Additionally, she called for transparency and accountability in governance, particularly in the issuance of planning permissions and the handling of corruption cases.
