Senior Congress leader and Minister K.H. Muniyappa, who had initially declined to take charge of the Ministry of Food and Civil Supplies due to concerns over portfolio issues, has now decided to assume the role. This change of heart came after discussions with Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi, who assured Muniyappa that his issues would be addressed.
Following a meeting with Rahul Gandhi and other party leaders, Muniyappa expressed satisfaction with the assurances given to him. He conveyed his contentment by stating, “I am happy,” indicating his readiness to accept the ministry position. This development follows internal deliberations within the Karnataka Congress regarding cabinet portfolio allocations.
Amidst reports of dissatisfaction among ministers, Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar highlighted these concerns during Rahul Gandhi’s recent visit to Bengaluru. The party leadership intervened to resolve the issues raised by Muniyappa and other ministers, leading to Muniyappa’s decision to withdraw his initial refusal.
Minister Ramalinga Reddy, who also expressed discontent over portfolio allocation and announced his resignation, remains steadfast in his decision despite efforts to persuade him otherwise. The party is working to address these internal challenges and ensure a smooth functioning of the government.
