Odisha Vigilance apprehended Rajesh Chandra Mohanty, a senior engineer from the Department of Water Resources, for allegedly owning assets 241% higher than his known income sources. Mohanty, currently serving as Additional Chief Engineer (Dam Safety), faced charges of amassing wealth beyond his justifiable earnings.

Following the arrest, searches were conducted at six different locations in Cuttack, Bhubaneswar, Jajpur, and Dhenkanal districts linked to Mohanty. These searches aimed to investigate claims of him acquiring assets disproportionate to his income sources. The searches revealed movable and immovable assets worth crores registered under Mohanty and his family members.

During the searches, authorities discovered various assets, including a luxurious triple-storeyed building in Bhubaneswar, a farmhouse in Dhenkanal district, valuable plots in different locations, cash, gold ornaments, deposits, flight tickets, vehicles, and household items. The total value of the assets unearthed during the searches amounted to a substantial sum.
