Four-time Trinamool Congress Lok Sabha member and senior advocate Kalyan Banerjee, known for his loyalty to former West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, has raised concerns about his treatment within the party. In a recent social media post, Banerjee criticized how he was repeatedly interrupted and insulted during a rally organized by the Mamata Banerjee-led faction.
Banerjee also accused a specific group within the party of providing misleading information to the media about him. Referring to them as “Kalighat Sources,” named after Mamata Banerjee’s official residence in South Kolkata, he warned that their actions could harm the party’s unity.
Expressing his frustration, Banerjee detailed instances where his speech was disrupted during the Martyrs’ Day rally, including interruptions caused by Mamata Banerjee’s nephew, Abhishek Banerjee. Despite facing challenges, Banerjee emphasized his continued loyalty to Mamata Banerjee and her faction, especially during a period of internal dissent within the party.
Highlighting his dedication, Banerjee mentioned his active engagement with party workers, contrasting it with the lack of district visits by other leaders in recent months. He underscored his commitment to supporting the party despite the emergence of a separate faction led by expelled Trinamool Congress legislator, Ritabrata Banerjee.
