A series of deaths within 24 hours in Gujarat has raised concerns about the police department. Two serving police personnel and a police recruitment candidate died in separate incidents in Gandhinagar and Bharuch, prompting multiple investigations. In Gandhinagar, a police head constable was found dead at his residence in an apparent suicide.
The deceased, identified as Upendrasinh Vaghela, was on sick leave at the time and was discovered hanging from a ceiling fan. Despite no suicide note being found, authorities are investigating the incident. Vaghela, survived by his mother, wife, and two children, was sent for a post-mortem examination at Gandhinagar Civil Hospital.
The incidents in Gandhinagar were followed by two deaths in Bharuch. A woman police constable was found dead in her residential quarters, suspected to have died by suicide. In a separate incident during police recruitment, a 25-year-old candidate collapsed after a running test and later passed away during treatment.
Ravirajsinh Jadeja, the candidate, complained of breathlessness after the run and collapsed. Despite immediate medical assistance, he could not be saved. Investigations are ongoing in both Bharuch cases to determine the circumstances surrounding these tragic events.
