The seventh group of pilgrims embarking on the annual Amarnath Yatra left from the Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu on Wednesday. Thousands of devotees are journeying to the holy cave shrine in the Kashmir Himalayas amidst a reverent atmosphere and extensive security measures. Pilgrims expressed contentment with the facilities and security arrangements provided by the authorities, describing the pilgrimage as a spiritually enriching experience.
Many pilgrims praised the support and guidance offered by the administration throughout the journey. One devotee mentioned, “They are guiding us properly and telling us what to do at every step. They are doing a great job…” Another pilgrim commended the arrangements for the Yatra, stating, “Everything is very good. The service provided is also very good…”
Authorities have implemented robust security measures along the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway and at critical transit points to ensure the safe passage of pilgrims. Medical teams, disaster response personnel, and volunteers are stationed along the Yatra routes to aid devotees. The annual pilgrimage to the 3,880-meter-high holy cave shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva is a significant religious event in India, drawing devotees from across the country and beyond each year.
The Amarnath Yatra has seen a remarkable response since its commencement on July 3, with over one lakh pilgrims undertaking the pilgrimage within just five days. As per official records, 15,947 pilgrims visited the holy cave shrine via the Baltal and Chandanwari routes by 1 p.m. on Tuesday, bringing the total number of devotees to 1,01,706. The largest batch of pilgrims, including 31 foreign nationals, departed from the Bhagwati Nagar base camp on Tuesday under stringent security measures.
