Seychelles National Assembly Speaker, Azarel Ernesta, commended India’s democracy while Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered a special address on his state visit to the archipelagic island. Ernesta highlighted India’s role as a beacon of excellence in democracy, being the world’s largest democracy and a pioneer in democratic values.
Expressing gratitude, Ernesta mentioned that PM Modi was the first Prime Minister to address their House, emphasizing the significance of his message to the Seychellois people. Sylvanne Lemiel, the Leader of Government Business in the National Assembly, welcomed PM Modi as the Guest of Honour for their independence anniversary, considering his presence as deeply meaningful.
During his visit, PM Modi thanked the people of Seychelles for their warmth and friendship, emphasizing the enduring partnership between the two nations based on shared values. He also interacted with the Members of the Assembly, further strengthening bilateral ties and cooperation.
PM Modi was honored with the ‘Guardian of the Blue Horizon’ award, Seychelles’ highest recognition for leadership in environmental conservation and sustainable development. This award acknowledges PM Modi’s commitment to sustainable growth and his environmental initiatives, reflecting his green vision for the future.
