Seychelles President Patrick Herminie is set to visit India from February 5-10 at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This visit marks Herminie’s first trip to India since taking office in October last year, as announced by the Ministry of External Affairs. During his stay, Herminie will engage in discussions with President Droupadi Murmu and PM Modi on various bilateral and international matters of common interest.
The visit coincides with the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Seychelles and India. Apart from meetings in New Delhi, Herminie will also travel to Chennai and Mumbai to participate in business events. The Ministry of External Affairs anticipates that this visit will bolster the existing cooperation between the two countries.
India considers Seychelles a significant maritime neighbor in the Indian Ocean region, aligning with India’s Vision MAHASAGAR and its dedication to the Global South. The visit follows the Vice President of India’s trip to Seychelles in October 2025, aiming to strengthen the extensive cooperation and people-to-people connections between the two nations.
Vice President C P Radhakrishnan, representing India, attended Herminie’s inauguration as the President of Seychelles in October 2025. During the visit, discussions were held at the State House in Victoria to enhance bilateral cooperation. Both leaders emphasized their joint commitment to peace, stability, and prosperity in the Indian Ocean Region and the Global South.
