National Award-winning actress Shabana Azmi shared a heartwarming family story about her niece Meghna and nephew Viraaj. Initially, they paid her little attention until they discovered her work with Hollywood legend Steven Spielberg in the series “Halo,” featuring Pablo Schreiber.
In a social media post, Shabana affectionately referred to Meghna and Viraaj as her “lovely bachchas” and highlighted how they finally noticed her involvement in Spielberg’s “Halo.” The show, based on a video game franchise by Bungie, is a military science fiction series created by Kyle Killen and Steven Kane.
“Halo” revolves around a 26th-century conflict between the United Nations Space Command and the Covenant, an alliance of alien races aiming to wipe out humanity. Notably, the series stars Pablo Schreiber as Master Chief Petty Officer John-117 and Jen Taylor as Cortana, reprising her role from the video game series.
Shabana Azmi is set to appear in Rajkumar Santoshi’s upcoming period film “Batwara 1947,” alongside Sunny Deol, Preity Zinta, and Ali Fazal. Previously known as “Lahore 1947,” the movie reunites Sunny Deol with Santoshi after their collaborations on films like ‘Ghayal’ and ‘Damini.’
The film’s narrative, reportedly adapted from Asghar Wajahat’s play ‘Jis Lahore Nai Dekhya, O Jamyai Nai,’ explores Partition through the lens of intimate human relationships affected by communal violence and displacement. The story focuses on a Hindu family compelled to move from Lahore to India, inheriting a haveli abandoned by a Muslim family, only to find an elderly Muslim woman still residing there.
