Trinamool Congress (TMC) Lok Sabha MP and veteran actor Shatrughan Sinha extended his congratulations to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for completing 12 years in office. Sinha referred to Modi as a friend and guide in a social media post, also wishing him a long, healthy, and prosperous life.
Sinha praised the Prime Minister for achieving this milestone, highlighting it as one of the lengthiest tenures in India’s history. In his post, Sinha expressed his best wishes to Modi, acknowledging his role as a leader in society and the nation.
Reportedly, Sinha is among the Trinamool Congress MPs listed as rebel MPs in the Lok Sabha who have opted to join the NDA. The message from the TMC leader coincided with celebrations by BJP-led NDA leaders on Modi’s 12-year tenure and his distinction as India’s longest-serving democratically elected Prime Minister in consecutive terms.
Political experts noted that Sinha’s message came amidst internal conflicts within the Trinamool Congress, with some MLAs in the state Assembly and MPs in Lok Sabha rebelling against the party leadership, particularly targeting its general secretary Abhishek Banerjee.
Sinha, who had previously been associated with the BJP, joined the Trinamool Congress in 2022 and won the Lok Sabha bypoll from the Asansol constituency in West Burdwan district. He retained the seat in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls, following a political journey that included stints with various parties.
