Shehnaaz Gill shared her emotional connection with B Praak’s song ‘Narak’ from ‘Ishqnama.’ Playing the character of Nasima deepened her bond with the track, making the recording experience special. She clarified that her cover version aimed to showcase the song in her unique style, not to replicate the original by B Praak and Jyotica.
Ahead of the release of ‘Ishqnama,’ Shehnaaz Gill revealed her rendition of “Narak,” a song originally sung by B Praak and Jyotica Tangri. The track, penned and composed by Jaani, portrays the pain and silent love between the film’s lead characters, Nasima and Nimma, portrayed by Shehnaaz Gill and Jai Randhawa.
Inspired by the true story of Nimma and Nasima, “Ishqnama” is a film set against the India-Pakistan border between 1981 and 1988. Starring Shehnaaz Gill, Jai Randhawa, and Saurabh Sachdeva, the movie is directed by Arvvindr S. Khaira and is scheduled for release in cinemas across India, Canada, and the UK on 24 July 2026.
Shehnaaz Gill, when asked about the relevance of a love story like Nimma and Nasima’s in the dating app era, emphasized the importance of love in all its forms, regardless of the time period. According to her, love should exist, whether it’s in today’s world or from the past.
