Shehzad Bhatti is using social media to recruit Indians for anti-national activities, with police across states cracking down on these networks. Backed by the ISI, Bhatti and his aides in Pakistan monitor social media content, targeting individuals critical of the authorities. These individuals are contacted, given minor tasks like posting against the establishment, and encouraged to engage in a perception battle against India.
Bhatti has established multiple modules in India, some focused on attacks, surveillance, or gathering information about sensitive locations. These modules aim to spread anti-India content and create a negative perception globally. Bhatti, a former social media influencer, leverages his knowledge and dedicated team in Pakistan to ensure the posts go viral.
Authorities have dismantled a module in Maharashtra, but warn of potential new networks in other parts of the country. The Pakistani handlers involved, including Abu Musa and others, recruit Indian youth through social media. There are concerns that Bhatti’s next operation could target Punjab in connection with the Khalistan issue, as the ISI seeks to revive the movement.
