The Shiromani Akali Dal’s working committee criticized Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann for disrespecting the Akal Takht publicly, stating that it was hurting religious sentiments. The committee, led by Sukhbir Badal, accused the Chief Minister of causing divisions within the Sikh community and committing a grave offense against the Guru Sahiban by challenging the Akal Takht.
Party leader Daljit Singh Cheema disclosed that the committee passed a resolution demanding Mann’s immediate resignation. They highlighted the Chief Minister’s attempts to refute allegations by presenting reports from labs after the Akal Takht confirmed the authenticity of a controversial video involving him.
The committee members expressed dissatisfaction with Mann’s actions, stating that he had misled the Sikh community by falsely claiming the video was created using artificial intelligence. They emphasized that the Akal Takht had verified the video forensically after Mann failed to do so despite reminders over several months.
The working committee also discussed the party’s organizational structure, focusing on booth-level committees. SAD President Sukhbir Badal aimed to finalize the entire organizational setup within the next two weeks. Additionally, the committee addressed concerns regarding the AAP government’s handling of protests and the deteriorating law and order situation.
