The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) has called for the entire case concerning the alleged sacrilege involving Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to be transferred to the CBI. Party leader Maheshinder Grewal emphasized the need for a CBI investigation due to the case’s multi-state nature and the money trail complexities. Grewal accused the Chief Minister of being the primary suspect and alleged the fabrication of documents and forgery at Mann’s behest.
Another Akali leader, Daljit Cheema, highlighted a constitutional crisis in Punjab, alleging that CM Mann had manipulated the law and misused state power and funds to protect himself. Cheema questioned the Chief Minister’s involvement in obtaining a fake forensic report through commissioner-level officers of the Punjab Police. The leaders demanded clarity from Finance Minister Harpal Cheema regarding the public release of these purportedly fake forensic reports.
Balwinder Bhunder, another SAD leader, criticized CM Mann for his actions towards Akal Takht Sahib and accused him of resorting to falsehoods, including obtaining a fabricated forensic report. Bhunder claimed that despite the exposure of the manufactured reports by Punjab Police officials, Mann continued to mislead the Sikh community with new deceitful narratives.
