Shiv Pratap Shukla became the Governor of Telangana on Wednesday, taking the oath in Telugu, surprising attendees. The Chief Justice of Telangana High Court, Justice Aparesh Kumar, administered the oath at Raj Bhavan. Notable figures like Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka were present at the ceremony.
Former Himachal Pradesh Governor Bandaru Dattatreya and other officials also attended the event. Shukla’s upcoming task includes addressing a joint sitting of both Houses on March 16 as the Assembly Budget session commences. He recently arrived in Hyderabad and was welcomed by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport.
President Droupadi Murmu appointed Shukla as Telangana’s Governor, succeeding Jishnu Dev Varma, who now serves as Maharashtra’s Governor. Telangana, established in 2014, has Shukla as its fourth Governor. Shukla, born in 1952, has a political background with the BJP and a history of serving in various governmental roles.
