Shiv Sena criticized the Maharashtra government, alleging a collapse of the state’s economy due to severe corruption. The party claimed that Rs 3,541 crore was illegally diverted from the state exchequer for a vote-buying scheme before the Assembly elections. A Comptroller and Auditor General report revealed that 92 lakh beneficiaries of a welfare scheme were found to be bogus or ineligible.
The ruling alliance was accused of orchestrating a “State Capture” by channeling funds to ineligible accounts before the elections. The editorial highlighted the misuse of public funds to secure votes, comparing it to a state takeover. The editorial also criticized Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis for dismissing corruption allegations against the government.
Shiv Sena demanded accountability from government officials involved in the scam, urging the recovery of stolen funds from their personal assets. The party emphasized the need for financial transparency and criticized the government’s handling of public debt and fiscal health. The editorial warned that such corruption could erode public trust in welfare schemes and governance.
