In a joint press conference, Shiv Sena Chief Uddhav Thackeray and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena President Raj Thackeray criticized the NDA government for the NEET exam paper leak and police actions against protesting students in Delhi. They announced a joint protest march on July 26, starting from Shivaji Park to the Siddhivinayak Temple in Mumbai.
Raj Thackeray emphasized the need for accountability at the top, drawing comparisons to past resignations like that of former Maharashtra Home Minister R.R. Patil after the 26/11 attacks. He pointed out that the issue now involves Prime Minister Narendra Modi, beyond Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
Raj Thackeray condemned the government’s reluctance to engage with protestors, citing previous instances such as the farmers’ agitation and the Ladakh protests. He expressed concern over the administration’s refusal to address the NEET paper leaks, warning of dire consequences for students.
Uddhav Thackeray criticized the police’s treatment of student protestors in Delhi, alleging violence against young women. He questioned the use of civilians with batons to suppress the agitation and expressed disappointment in the judiciary’s response to the situation.
Both leaders emphasized a non-partisan protest, urging citizens, parents, and political figures to support the youth. They declared that the rally on July 26 will only display the Indian National Flag, welcoming participation from all concerned individuals.
