The Shiv Sena Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray (UBT) criticized the recent joining of seven AAP MPs, including Raghav Chadha, into the BJP, labeling it a “merger of corruption.” The Thackeray camp expressed disapproval in the party’s publication ‘Saamana,’ highlighting Chadha’s past criticism of the BJP and the warm reception he received upon joining the BJP.
According to the editorial, the leaders who switched parties are seen as moving from one corrupt stream to another, with their alleged corruption charges being overlooked. The editorial also criticized the political climate, accusing leaders like Chadha and Ashok Mittal of lacking political integrity and merely following the ruling party’s lead.
The editorial further pointed out recent events involving the Enforcement Directorate’s raids on Mittal’s establishments and Chadha’s involvement in a Delhi liquor scam charge sheet. It highlighted the alleged strategic moves made by these leaders to evade legal consequences and criticized the BJP for accepting them.
The Shiv Sena editorial raised concerns about the legality of the AAP MPs’ defection to the BJP, citing constitutional provisions that prohibit such actions. It questioned the integrity of various institutions in handling defection cases and accused the BJP of pursuing power at the cost of ethical standards.
