Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde of Shiv Sena criticized the party’s leadership during its 60th Foundation Day rally in Maharashtra. Speculation surrounds a potential defection of six Shiv Sena Lok Sabha Members of Parliament to Shinde’s faction, referred to as “Operation Tiger.” Shinde hinted at a significant political shift, stating, “This is just the trailer; the movie is still to come.”
Addressing party workers, Shinde used strong language to respond to opposition leaders questioning his stance amid the defection rumors. He emphasized his position by saying, “Look, this tiger stands right in front of you today!” Shinde indirectly addressed threats from the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena faction, challenging their warning of an “Operation Stomp” and mocking their political influence.
Referring to his past rebellion in June 2022, Shinde recounted facing threats upon his return to Mumbai four years ago. He highlighted his independent arrival in the city, bypassing the airport’s helicopter and stopping in Worli despite warnings from certain leaders. Shinde, supported by senior leader Ramdas Kadam, warned the Uddhav Thackeray-led faction against their threats, asserting the unwavering commitment of Shiv Sena workers to the party’s ideology.
