Shiv Sena (UBT) leader and MP, Sanjay Raut, criticized the Central Government for its recent actions against innovator and activist Sonam Wangchuk. Raut condemned the police intervention as authoritarian and a tactic to divert attention from protests in Maharashtra. He highlighted that Wangchuk’s hunger strike was aimed at addressing core issues, including demanding the resignation of the Union Education Minister.
Raut expressed disappointment in the government’s handling of the situation, emphasizing that Wangchuk’s demands were not addressed promptly. He linked the police action to Maharashtra politics, alleging that it was timed to overshadow protests led by Shiv Sena (UBT) against corruption related to the Ram Mandir. Despite the government’s actions, Raut affirmed that the party’s plans for protests remained unchanged.
NCP(SP) MP, Supriya Sule, also criticized the Central Government for ignoring Wangchuk’s protest. Sule visited Jantar Mantar to show support and urged Wangchuk to end his fast due to health concerns. She denounced the NEET-UG paper leak and emphasized the need for accountability in such nationwide issues affecting students.
