Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray expressed full support for the ongoing student protests led by activist Sonam Wangchuk and youth activist Abhijeet Dipke over the NEET controversy. Thackeray urged all political parties to unite beyond party lines and called on Rahul Gandhi to join the protests in New Delhi. He criticized the government for its handling of exam paper leaks, emphasizing the risk it poses to students’ futures.
Thackeray emphasized that the issue is not political but a crucial battle to safeguard the youth’s future. He targeted the ruling BJP, questioning the lack of accountability and the absence of action against HRD Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. The student-led movement, under the Chhatra Janandolan Parishad (CJP) banner, plans a large march in New Delhi on July 20.
Considering a visit to the protest site in Delhi, Thackeray highlighted security concerns, warning of potential infiltrators aiming to disrupt the peaceful demonstration. He criticized the government for not engaging with the protesting youth and urged parents to support their children’s cause. Thackeray also appealed to Sonam Wangchuk to end his hunger strike for the greater good of the movement.
Youth activist Abhijeet Dipke thanked Uddhav Thackeray for backing the protest at Jantar Mantar, as opposition forces rally around the student grievances. The upcoming July 20 march is anticipated to intensify pressure on the central government.
