In a boost for the Shiv Sena before the Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) elections, three party candidates from Ward No. 24 have won uncontested. This victory marks the Shiv Sena’s entry into the upcoming civic polls and strengthens the Mahayuti alliance’s position in the twin cities. The successful candidates are Ramesh Mhatre, Vishwanath Rane, and Vrushali Joshi.
Jyoti Patil from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was also elected unopposed in the same ward, ensuring a clean sweep for the Mahayuti coalition. Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Member of Parliament Dr. Shrikant Shinde congratulated the newly elected corporators, attributing the win to the Shiv Sena’s organizational strength and public support. Party workers see this as a validation of the “Shinde style” and anticipate similar results in other wards.
The BJP had early successes in Maharashtra’s civic polls, with at least six candidates winning unopposed before polling. In the KDMC, Rekha Chaudhary, Asawari Navre, and Ranjana Perkar secured unopposed wins in different wards. State BJP president Ravindra Chavan praised the women leaders for opening the party’s account in the civic polls. Nitin Patil won uncontested in the Panvel Municipal Corporation, while the BJP secured two seats unopposed in the Dhule Municipal Corporation.
Ujjwala Bhosale, who recently joined the BJP, was elected unopposed in a swift turn of events. Jyotsna Praful Patil also won uncontested in Ward No. 6-B. The BJP’s success in various municipal corporations highlights the early victories in the ongoing civic polls.
